Context of the Operational Coastal Oceanography conference

Operational oceanography was launched ten years ago and is ready now to progressively step forward, moving from research to operational exploitation in the framework of G.M.E.S. (Global Monitoring for Environment and Security) a joint program of the European Commission and the European Space Agency.

Programme

The OCO conference 2008 will focus on two main themes:

  • the presentation of Research and Development results obtained in the development of information systems, numerical models, in situ measurement systems, new functionalities and diffusion tools;
  • the description of products and services existing on marine development, the expression of needs as well as questions related to economics and organisation.

Organisation

The conference is co-organised by Ifremer, the French Marine Cluster, SHOM, Météo-France and the European group of enterprises Littoralis.

Link with other SeaTechWeek events

The venue of the OCO 2008 conference will be at Le Quartz congress centre, downtown Brest, on 13rd and 14th October 2008 from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m.
